2009 V8 Club Charitable Contributions
Submitted by Donn Pattinson

The club Board of Directors (BOD) at the November meeting voted to
contribute $5,000 to charities in North Idaho and Eastern Washington.
This amount was divided equally between the two regions in which the
majority of our members reside.  $5,000 is an increase of $3,000 over last
year due to having a good return from the Swap meet last summer.

Two other deciding factors were to contribute to: 1) local charities that
aren’t deemed to be well funded from other sources  (Al Holm spoke to this
factor at the BOD meeting) and 2) to organizations that our members
participate and/or work with.

With the above in mind, the individual contributions were as follows:

Idaho

  • $1,000 to Autumn Leaves (a Coeur d’Alene teenage suicide awareness foundation)
  • $1,000 to Lake City Center for Meals on Wheels
  • $500 to the Post Falls Food Bank.

Washington

  • $1,000 to the Spokesman Review Christmas Fund
  • $1,000 to Second Harvest Food Bank
  • $500 to North Pines Middle School.  Member, Lisa Peters, works at North Pines and encouraged a donation for lunches for low income students.

Al Holm sponsored the donations to Autumn Leaves and to the Lake City Center.
Vonnie Satchwell suggested the Post Falls Food Bank.

The above, expanded donations were thought by all the BOD members to be good choices, especially in this time of recession and need.  We sincerely hope the membership agrees.
