General Membership Meeting

February 6, 2010

February Pot Luck Dinner

The meeting was called to order at 6:00 pm by President Dale Furnish:

·       He welcomed everyone to the meeting and thanked Lisa Peters for organizing the February pot luck dinner.

·       Birthday wishes were extended to club members with February birthdays.

·       Willy Harms was featured on the Spokane PBS Northwest Profiles. The program was great! Becky Swenson, our newsletter editor, will add a link to this PBS Northwest Profile program on the V8 Club site so we can all view it.

The motion to accept the January’s meeting minutes as published was made by Willy Harms and seconded by Butch Glander. Motion carried

 

Treasurers Report given by John Clark:

·       Financial report was read

·       Taxes for 2009 have been paid

o      John thanked Don Pattinson for all his help with tax preparation.

·       Starting in 2009 the club is paying sales taxes on the sale of clothing items.

·       Currently the club has 114 members

o      He cautioned that there were members that have not yet paid their dues and noted that the dues must be paid no later than next meeting.

o      He also reminded the club members they must be members of the National V8 Club. He sent around a sheet asking if you were currently a national club member. If you were not at the meeting or didn’t see the sheet please contact John and let him.

o      A list of unpaid members was read.

o      If you have not yet renewed your membership there are membership forms on the web site, www.earlyfordv8ie.org , or you can contact one of the officers and they will make sure one is sent to you.

·       John mentioned the Great Fall Skunk Wagon. For more information contact John Clark.

·       A humanitarian shout out was made by Sue Harms for the people in the devastated country of Haiti, for the unselfish people helping them, and for the aid of the Red Cross. She made a motion that the club donates money to this effort. It was duly noted by the president that this motion would be considered by the board at the next board meeting. There was some discussion about this motion; again this issue will be discussed at the next board meeting.

 

The motion to accept the financial report as read was made by Lynne Lang and seconded by Annette Long. Motion carried

 

Old Business

·       Perspective new members for the club are Mike and Julian Robinson

·       New tables have been purchased for club use. Dale asked if anyone in the club would store the tables. Pat & Lisa Peters stepped forward to take on this responsibility. Jackie Feldmiller, our assets manager will be notified of the purchase and the storage accommodations.

·       Donn Pattinson reported that the new roster would be published in the March-April timeframe. Please have all the changes to Becky Swenson bswenson@gmail.com or Donn in time for publication.

·       Honorable mention was given to our newsletter in the National V8 Club Magazine. We are proud to say that the work and creativity of this honor goes to Judy Barns and Becky Swenson.

 

New Business / Committee Reports:

 

Tours with Bob Long:

·       Garage Tour/Chris Swenson Tour Master

o      Scheduled for April 17th

o      Signup sheet at the March meeting

·       Spring Fling Poker Run/Von Dago Scozzaro Tour Master

o      Scheduled for May 8th

o      Schedule is still in flux

o      Hope to work out a time when our club could meet up with the Montana V8 group.

·       ***A reminder*** to the folks planning on going on the Enterprise Tour/Tom Dailey Tour Master, to get your hotel reservations made.

 

Sunshine with Annette Long:

·       No Blood bank report but we have blood for club use. Just call Annette if the need arises.

o      Note: Willy Harms, at last count, to date has donated 21 gallons!!! Way to go Willy and thank you for your gift of life.

·       Flowers were sent to Joy and Dick Gmeiner. It was reported that they were now doing better after suffering and serious car accident. Their thank you card was read. They thanked the club members for their cards and good wishes.

·       Flowers were sent to Dolores Cain. She was in the hospital and is home now. Her thank you card was read. She thanked us for our kindness and good thoughts.

·       Flowers were sent to Gary Davis. He was in the hospital for an appendectomy. He wanted to tell everyone thanks for the flowers and that he is proud to belong to the club.

 

Club Sale with Gail Whitman:

·      There is a sample sale for the existing stock of items on hand. A list of the items will be posted on the web site after the March meeting.

·      We will still be selling product at our monthly meetings

o     If club members need to be sized for any purchase please visit Larry Burnette’s shop and remember, If it’s custom, it’s yours.

·      For the past year and a half Gail and Carol Langstaff have done a splendid job of handling this club responsibility. They have organized old inventory and got rid of it as fast as they could. Purchased new inventory and sold tons of new items in 2009/2010 and have a great inventory system. They have done a great service for the club. Thanks and appreciation for all their work is sent to them. Yes these comments are a prelude to them stepping away from club sales. Carol and Jim Langstaff have a busy summer planned and Gail is joining Harry’s racing team. Yes, you read this right; Harry is joining a world class racing circuit right here in CDA! Gail is turning the reins of club sales over to JoAnn Davis at the February meeting.

·       Dale mentioned that we have a good hit rate for the site. To-date there were 4175 hits on our site. People are looking at our site and he has had positive comments from inside and outside our membership.

Swap Meet with Donn Leidell

·       Swap meet is right on track.

·       The color for this year is Green

·       New action for this year is to have the vendors able to move in on Thursday night. This will help alleviate the congestion on Friday morning.

·       Larry and Caren Easterly will be in charge of the 2010 Car Show

·       Butch Glander suggested that the club celebrate our 40th year swap meet in a similar manor the 25th annual meet was honored. With a celebratorial button that displayed our success of 40 years.

 

Ladies Meeting with Vonnie Satchwell

·       The next Ladies meeting will be February 12th, 11:00 am at Clinkerdagger Restaurant in Spokane. www.clinkerdagger.com located at 621 west Mallon Ave, Spokane, WA 99201-2154, 509-328-5965. Please call Vonnie for details.

 

Other business to be discussed?

·       There will be a Board of Directors meeting on March 18th

o      Perkins Restaurant on the corner of Argonne and Mission in Spokane Valley.

o      No host dinner at 6:00pm and the meeting start is 7:00pm.

o      Everyone is invited however only board members can vote on issues.

o      This year our April meeting falls on Easter Sunday and moving it to Saturday may be a wise idea.

·       Veterans: Lowes and Home Depot are offering Veteran’s a 10% discount on their purchases.

At the end of our February Meeting Lisa had a drawing for Valentines Gifts!

·       Lisa Peters had great valentines’ gifts for the members whose names were drawn. This was a fun ending to a great dinner and an informative meeting.

Treasurer’s Report   Jacquie Witham – The treasury has $3886.94 

 

Meetings have been moved from Casey’s Restaurant on Monroe to Timber Creek Grille in Argonne Village.

 

Guests –  

 

Big Horn Show Cars Needed!  Mary K. Repp is looking for cars.  She wants 6 cars for the show that are 60,s vintage cars that Dave Smith Motors currently sells.  Mopars, Chevys, Pontiacs and Cadillacs.  The Big Horn Show is March 19, 20, and 2

 

Jamie Wright from the Guild School was present and  said the date of the Guild School Penny Drive is  Saturday April 24, 2010.  IF WE WOULD LIKE TO BE INVOLVED IN  THE GUILD SCHOOL’S PENNY DRIVE AGAIN WE NEEDTO CONTACT DODY DODD AND LET HER KNOW.  DODY MUST KNOW BY APRIL25. 

 

Linda Thompson of the “Greater Spokane Area Substance Abuse Council” and “M.A.D.D.” made a presentation. They would appreciate any support they could get.

 

Fred Thomas of Tri State Soda Blasting which is mobile, made a presentation and would appreciate any Business and support he  could get.

 

Leslie from  the Northside Bambino Buddy  Ball providing summer baseball opportunities for all individuals ages 5 to 20 with disabilities wants donations for  their “Babe Ruth” program.  The I.N.C.C.C. donated $250.00.

 

Scott and Gwynn from Schweitzer Mountain made a presentation on  non  snow out of skiing season opportunities for discounted fees for lodging, scenic chairlift, May/June – Sept./Oct. lowest rates.  Lodging is available for “Lost in the 50’s”.

 

The Combat veteran Riders are hosting The “Ritzville Rendezvous” car and motorcycle show June 24,25,26.

 

The I.N.C.C.C. donated  $200.00  to the Kidney Transplant Foundation in memory of Bonnie Brown.

 

Their will no Fall Scholarship Auction in 2010 due to lack of interest.

 

The “All Original Car Show” will be held at Mirabeau Park on September 11, 2010.

 

The “Dukes and Friends” annual  picnic will be held Saturday June 26, at Mirabeau Park.

 

The Auto - Boat - Speed Show will be run this year by Orville Moe.  Don Wilbur has stepped down for a year.
